![]() Stratton - St. Andrew - Grade I Listed - 14th-15th Century. Stratton lies inland about two miles from Bude; the town is now a pleasant huddle of narrow streets rising up to the church; there are several Georgian and earlier houses, and a fine mixture of slate and thatched roofs which give the former market town a somewhat Devonian air. It lies on a Roman Road to Cornwall, and is a place of considerable interest and antiquity giving its name to the local Cornish Hundred. Stratton was an important town when its westerly neighbour Bude was merely a sea strand, long before harbour, salt pans or canal appeared.
