Church Trails in Cornwall

Poughill

Poughill - St. Olaf - Grade I Listed - 14th Century.

The village of Poughill - pronounced Poffil - is one of the prettiest in North Cornwall, with its thatched cottages, old houses and church erupting out of the community. Only a mile from the sea at Northcott Mouth it has become a popular place for holidaymakers staying in nearby Bude.

Recent building means that the boundaries between the communities of Bude Stratton and Poughill which used to be green fields only twenty years ago are now blurred, but Poughill remains a welcoming, friendly place with a strong sense of its own identify and a thriving church.
