Stratton, the parent town
of Bude. A town trail, takes in interesting old buildings including the birthplace of
Anthony Pane the "Cornish Giant". Born in the 'Tree Inn' he stood over
7ft. tall and fought with Sir Bevil Grenville in the Civil War at the nearby "Battle
of Stamford Hill" in 1643.

Launceston, off B3254 to Bude. British otters are bred here and re-introduced successfully
into the wild. Visitors can see British and Asian otters, a large collection of
British waterfowl, wallabies and golden pheasants. Two species of deer can be seen
in 20 acres of woodland. Tea room, gift shop, visitor centre and free car park.
