How to print web pages

On many web-sites, clicking the 'print' icon on the toolbar is adequate for printing the page you are viewing. On some sites, however, the printing process is slighty more complicated.

This site uses frames, which in effect, is two pages displayed on the same screen. In most cases, the left-hand frame is the navigation frame (highlighted in red on the example above). The larger right-hand frame (highlighted in green above) displays the page you have requested.
To print the information displayed in either frame, you must first 'select' the frame you want to print. This is done either by clicking the mouse pointer in the relevant frame, or by moving the scroll bar at the far right-hand edge of the frame, depending on the browser you are using. Don't worry if it looks as though nothing has happened. As long as you click in the frame you wish to print, then when you click the print icon, your selected page will print the information you require.

One point to note is that this process will normally not print backgrounds. Backgrounds will only print when configured in your browser if this function is supported. Internet Explorer 4 and 5 (IE 4 or 5) does support background printing (you can find it on the toolbar under Tools/Internet Options/Advanced in IE 5 and View/Internet Options/Advanced in IE 4), as do Mac versions of Netscape Navigator.

Additionally, if you are using IE 4 or 5, you are given print options under the File/Print command on the toolbar. You can either print the selected frame only, both frames separately or both frames together as displayed on-screen.

This site was designed to be viewed in Internet Explorer 4 or 5. If you are not running IE 4 or 5 and would like a FREE copy, you can download it from www.microsoft.com/ie. The only cost is that of your local telephone call rate.
