Cycling Accommodation Listing

bike.gif (6907 bytes)Taking advantage of the surprisingly empty roads, cycling has become increasingly popular and several scenic routes have been identified and mapped within the Bude - Holsworthy area. Cycling publications may be obtained from any of the Visitor Centres. For off-road cycling visit the Tarka Trail which runs between Barnstaple and Petrockstow, using the old railway line, and the Camel Trail which runs from Padstow to near Camelford.  Visitor Centres can also provide addresses where cycles can be hired.

Most villages in the area have country pubs serving good bar food.  The coastal routes have a choice of cafes and tea rooms where you can sample the traditional Cornish pastie and cream teas.

The Bude and Holsworthy area is well provided with accommodation;  campsites and caravan parks, family-run B&Bs, guest houses, farmhouses and good country house hotels for those looking for a good rest at the end of the day.

May 1997, The "Westcountry Way" opens.

The National Cycle Network 3 connects Padstow in Cornwall with Bristol and Bath.  Explore the cycle link between the Camel Trail and Tarka Trail, from Camelford through Holsworthy, Wainhouse Corner, Millook, Widemouth Bay, Bude, Marhamchurch, Bridgerule, Pyworthy, Holsworthy, Cookbury, Black Torrington, Sheepwash, Petrockstow to Great Torrington.
